What We Offer
What Is Prolotherapy?
Prolotherapy is a natural, well-established injection treatment used to help relieve chronic pain and support long-term healing. Rather than masking symptoms, it works by stimulating the body’s own repair process. Many cases of ongoing pain come from injured or weakened soft tissues, such as ligaments, tendons, muscles, and joint capsules. These tissues help hold your joints together and support your body during movement. When they are damaged, joints can become unstable, leading to pain that lingers or keeps returning. Prolotherapy is designed to strengthen and repair these tissues. By encouraging the body to rebuild and reinforce injured areas, it helps restore stability and reduce pain over time. For this reason, Prolotherapy is sometimes referred to as ligament repair or ligament strengthening therapy.
Why Pain Can Become Chronic
Normally, soft tissue injuries heal within four to six weeks. But in some cases, healing does not fully occur. This can lead to persistent pain that does not improve with rest, medication, or traditional therapies.
Examples include:
Ongoing neck pain, back pain, or headaches after a whiplash injury
Sports injuries that never completely heal and limit activity
Repetitive strain from work, exercise, or daily activities
Pain with no clear injury that gradually develops over time… Fibromyalgia, EDH (Ehlers-Danlos syndrome), and hypermobility disorders
When the underlying soft tissue damage is not addressed, pain may continue or worsen. Prolotherapy focuses on treating the source of the problem rather than just the symptoms, helping patients return to normal activity and a better quality of life.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
What Is PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma)?
PRP, or Platelet-Rich Plasma, is a treatment made from your own blood that is used to support healing in injured tissues.
Your blood is mostly liquid, called plasma, but it also contains important cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Platelets are best known for helping blood clot, but they also play a key role in healing. They contain natural substances called growth factors that help repair injured tissue.
PRP is created by concentrating the platelets from a small sample of your blood. This process increases the number of platelets and growth factors compared to what is normally found in blood. The goal is to create an environment that encourages healing and tissue repair.
Growth factors found in platelets help stimulate the body’s natural healing response. They are involved in repairing soft tissue, supporting bone healing, improving blood flow, and promoting wound healing.
PRP has been widely studied and used in recent years for treating injuries such as ligament sprains, chronic tendon pain, and joint conditions. Because PRP comes from your own blood, it is a natural treatment option designed to work with your body’s healing process.
“I just completed my 4th Prolotherapy treatment and my 3rd PRP treatment on my knees. I was told to wait at least five weeks and see how I’m doing, whether I need more treatment or if I’m good for now. I am so amazed and so thankful for how much better my knees are.
When I first came in to see Dr. Wheaton, I was barely able to walk and was in so much pain. Ever since my first treatment, I have made huge progress. My pain has decreased to just here and there, and I can go for walks in the woods again and go up and down stairs.
I keep praying for more and more healing over time and that I will be able to be more active again. Thank you so much.”
